In order to actively serve the national Belt and Road scientific and technological innovation cooperation initiative, deepen scientific research exchanges and collaborative innovation between Chinese and foreign universities, and stimulate the innovative thinking and research enthusiasm of teachers and students, the School of Materials Science and Engineering successfully held the 14th MSE Forum at 10:00 a.m. on November 4 in Room 525 of the Materials Building. This forum featured a special academic report by Professor Turakhodjaev Nodir from Tashkent State Technical University, Uzbekistan, titled Research on the properties of aluminum and magnesium and methods for improving their mechanical properties. The report was hosted by Associate Professor Shi Hailong from the School of Materials.

Professor Turakhodjaev Nodir has long been dedicated to research on magnesium alloy smelting processes, refining and modification treatments, simulation of solidification processes, and the preparation and processing of high-quality lightweight aluminum-lithium alloys. During the report, Professor Nodir systematically introduced his team's research work, which includes the successful achievement of high-purity smelting and purification of magnesium and aluminum alloys, as well as elucidating the reaction mechanisms between refining agents and impurities in metals at different temperatures, among other academic topics.

During the interactive session, the academic atmosphere was vibrant, with students actively and enthusiastically asking questions. Professor Nodir provided detailed and in-depth answers to questions from teachers and students regarding the regulation of fluidity in the casting process of magnesium-based composites. Finally, Associate Professor Shi Hailong expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the school for Professor Nodir's visit.

This forum greatly ignited the interest and exploration enthusiasm of teachers and students in the field of lightweight alloys. It not only provided strong support for the cultivation of innovative talent but also served as a vivid practice of the national Belt and Road scientific and technological innovation cooperation initiative, injecting new vitality and marking a new starting point for serving the national strategy of scientific and technological self-reliance.
