From July 27 to 31, 2026, Professor Lei Chen from the School of Materials Science and Engineering led an exchange group of five doctoral students on a five-day academic exchange visit to the Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Belarusian State University. The visit was conducted under the framework of the China-SCO Doctoral Training Innovation Center.

The Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is a leading research institution in Belarus in the fields of materials science and advanced manufacturing. During the visiting, Professor Alex and Kirill introduced the institute and accompanied the exchange group. Faculty members and students from both sides delivered thematic academic presentations and engaged in in-depth discussions on materials science and engineering and related interdisciplinary fields. The exchange group has been gained an understanding of the institute's approach to closely integrating fundamental research with applied development. The exchange group also visited the institute's history museum, exhibition hall, laboratories, and production facilities.

A scientific and technological exchange roundtable and an academic seminar were held between Harbin Institute of Technology and the Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The two sides reached clear intentions for cooperation in areas including ultra-high-temperature ceramic, porous ceramic fabrication, joint applications for international collaborative research project, and the establishment of a joint laboratory. They also reached a preliminary understanding on establishing a mechanism for reciprocal visits by scholars.
