From May 1 to 2, 2026, a delegation led by Professor Huang Lujun, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), together with Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Song Xinyi, Professor Chang Shuai, and Associate Researcher Jiang Botao, visited Hong Kong for an exchange and talent recruitment program. The visit was aimed at further implementing the University’s talent revitalization strategy, accelerating its march toward the forefront of world-class universities, and enhancing the School’s international influence and global competitiveness. During the visit, the delegation called on the University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Through recruitment seminars, roundtable discussions, and on-site visits, the delegation presented the School’s latest achievements and talent policies, actively recruited high-level overseas talents, and expanded the School’s global cooperation networks.

The delegation began its visit at the University of Hong Kong, where it held the “MSE Overseas Talent Recruitment Seminar”. The seminar attracted active participation from postdoctoral fellows and Ph.D. candidates in fields including materials science and engineering, mechanical behavior of ultra-high temperature structural ceramics, and high-strength and high-toughness metallic materials. Dean Huang Lujun delivered a comprehensive overview of the School’s history, disciplinary strengths, research platforms, faculty development, and talent support policies.

He noted that the School is now at a critical stage of high-quality development and urgently needs outstanding young scholars with global vision, strong innovation capacity, and great potential to join the School in contributing to major national strategic needs. The seminar was followed by a lively discussion, during which participating scholars had in-depth exchanges with Dean Huang and his colleagues on topics such as research alignment, mechanisms for team integration, and career development pathways.

During its stay in Hong Kong, the delegation held the “MSE 2026 Global Young Scholars Forum” with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. Building on existing cooperation, the two sides had productive consultations on promoting faculty and student exchanges and co-organizing international academic conferences, laying a solid foundation for future substantive cooperation.

The delegation also visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It explored cutting-edge research directions and joint training programs in materials science, compared the characteristics of talent cultivation in China and overseas through discussions with alumni, gauged the needs for international talent development, and further expanded the School’s cooperation network with Hong Kong institutions.

This visit is a key initiative of the School of Materials Science and Engineering in implementing the University’s internationalization strategy and proactively reaching out to talents. It has injected fresh momentum into enhancing the School’s international reputation and attracting outstanding talents from around the world.
